- First, I don't see why refusing to go deeper in debt means we have to default on current debt. Current debt could still be serviced through tax collections, the government would have to scale back spending in other areas.

- Ditto. Owned Toyota since a Japan - built 1989 Camry. It and a 1994 Camry V-6 were perfect, and I mean perfect beyond routine maintenance, over a combined 200K miles. The '94 was assembled in Georgetown, KY but parts content was still 100% Japanese.

Truckers are already OVERTAXED so you & I can get everything we use on a daily bases. They pay a 12% Federal excise tax on a new truck with an avg cost of 125,000. ie 15,000. tax, they pay a federal hwy use tax of about 600. per yr, they pay a personal property tax for their truck & trailer, registration of about 1,000. per yr, tax on their fuel & tires is greater than that on autos, toll road tax, permits to cross through some states, etc. Their return on investment, risk, & time is something most of us would not even consider. If anything they should be tax exempt for the services they provide for all of us. What we really need is TERM LIMITS & FLAT TAX.
